PTW Squad Update

Partick Thistle Women’s FC can provide the following squad update ahead of the 22/23 season getting underway

As we prepare to build on a successful first season in SWPL1,  a number of players have left the club this summer and they all do so with our thanks for their efforts in Red and Yellow and with our very best wishes for the future.

Cara McBrearty, Teigan McCann, Emma Craig, Jade Gallon, Eleanor Smith, Louise Magilton and Dionne Brown have all left the club this summer.

Cara McBrearty

As previously announced Cara has decided to take a break from football. The hugely popular midfielder who played up top last season ended her stint in Red and Yellow with 37 appearances and 13 Goals, also racking up 13 assists in just the 2nd half of the 2021/22 season

Teigan McCann

Teigan joined the club during the 2020/21 season and announced herself with a goal in the 5-1 win over Aberdeen as a trialist before signing permanently.

The winger started last season on fire with 3 goals in 2 games but an injury derailed her season, but she did manage to finish her time in Red and Yellow on 6 goals in 23 appearances.

Emma Craig

Emma joined the team ahead of the 2020/21 season and made  24 appearances over the next season and a half before unfortunately her season was cut short by a number of injuries.

Jade Gallon

A superb first season for the powerful central midfielder saw her score 5 goals in 25 appearances during the 2020/21 season. Unfortunately, an injury picked up at the start of last season saw her miss the rest of the season.

Eleanor Smith

Eleanor Smith joined the club in 2020 before going on to make 28 appearances and scoring 3 goals. The defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Queens Park.

Louise Magilton

Louise joined the club midway through last season to help provide cover in the defensive areas. She made 4 appearances before picking up an injury which prevented her from adding to that tally.

Dionne Brown

Dionne joined the club last December after featuring as a trialist for Brian Graham’s side against Spartans, Hearts and Rangers in SWPL 1.

She finished the 2021/22 season with nine total appearances, all coming as a substitute.

Colette Fleming and Cheryl Rigden had both previously announced their retirement from football and we once again thank them for everything they have done for the club.

Manager Brian Graham said: “It’s always hard to say goodbye to players who have all been a part of what we are building here at this club. They have all played a part both on and off the pitch and I want to thank them personally for that.

“We wish all players the best for the future, We have a number of players retiring and taking breaks from the game and I hope to see them back as fans next season, they are all welcome back any time”
