April is Sarcoidosis Awareness Month and Wednesday April 30th National Sarcoidosis Day.
Unaware of what Sarcoidosis is then you are not alone.
Sarcoidosis is a rare disease, where lumps called granulomas develop at different sites within the body. Sarcoidosis can affect many different parts of the body and when many granulomas form in an organ, they can prevent that organ from working properly. Sarcoidosis affects around 1 in 10,000 people in the UK.
Sarcoidosis is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood by doctors, leaving patients feeling confused and isolated. SarcoidosisUK works to support anyone affected by sarcoidosis by providing information and support, funding research and raising vital awareness of sarcoidosis. You can find out more about sarcoidosis here: https://www.sarcoidosisuk.org/information-hub/what-is-sarcoidosis/
Working with SarcoidosisUK, Partick Thistle WFC are proud to be helping to try and increase awareness of this often debilitating and life altering disease prior to kick-off of our home fixture with Dundee United on National Sarcoidosis Day.
A number of the girls will be wearing SarcoidosisUK T-Shirts during the warm up this evening and the full squad will come together behind a Sarcoidosis banner to show their support.
