This season has been an historic one for Partick Thistle Women’s FC.
We are competing in the top flight of Scottish Football for the very first time and competing extremely well.
In reaching the last eight of the SWPL Cup we progressed as far as we have ever done in that particular competition.
We have already reached the latest stage of the Scottish Cup in our Club’s history with the potential of further enhancement in that competition next month.
We are proud of what we have achieved on and off the pitch in such a relatively short time.
Not least as our elevation to SWPL1 came almost at the last minute meaning that it was not possible to properly plan financially for the demands of playing against the elite of the Women’s game in Scotland.
This meant that we had to seek new, creative, ways to raise additional funds to help support our continued development.
In November last year, we launched a Go Fund campaign that raised an astonishing £2,550, well beyond our initial target.
There was a real sense of pride when Thistle took the field in our last league match that upon the sleeves we displayed the logos of The Partick Thistle Charitable Trust and the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Said PTWFC Chairman Jacqui Low;
“Our intention if we reached our target was to adopt a charity partner and display their logo on our kit sleeve, thus raising the profile of that charity partner. As we exceeded our initial target, we’ve been able to adopt not one but two charity partners. We are so grateful for the support from fans to achieve this goal, it means a lot to us.”
Randle Wilson from PTCT said: “The Partick Thistle Charitable Trust is delighted and proud to be the sleeve sponsor of the Partick Thistle Women’s Team. We are big supporters of Brian and the Team on and off the park. We have a wonderful partnership that allows us to support many vulnerable people in Glasgow. This is another great example of the Partick Thistle Family working together to do great things”
A Beatson Cancer Charity spokesperson said: “We are honoured to have been selected as the charity displayed on Partick Thistle Women’s Football Club’s strip sleeve.
“The club have supported us for a number of years which we are extremely grateful for.
“We are thrilled that our logo will now be seen during matches and hopefully enable us to support more cancer patients and their families in the future.”
