Partick Thistle Women’s FC is excited to announce the double signing of midfielders Rebecca McGowan and Jade Greenshields from St. Johnstone Women.
The pair both featured as trialists in our SWPL 1 fixture against Aberdeen at the weekend with Rebecca starting the game and Jade coming off the bench in the second half.
McGowan, who featured for Scotland at the 2019 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championships, won the Player’s Player of the Year award with St. Johnstone last season as well as being nominated for the SWPL Player of the Month award for November 2020. She started against us twice during the 20/21 campaign.
Also arriving from Perth is Saints’ long-serving skipper Jade Greenshields. Jade, who has also previously played for Dundee United and Forfar, has been captaining St. Johnstone since before their name change in 2018 and has bags of experience at SWPL level. She also has a bit of history with the SWPL Player of the Month award having become the first St. Johnstone player to win it when she did so in June 2018.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said: “I’m delighted to add another two to the squad. We’re a bit light with some long term injuries so I’m happy to add two girls with real quality.
Both girls impressed me when playing for St Johnstone last season. Rebecca started on Saturday and showed exactly what she can do in the middle of the park.
Jade has been a captain at St Johnstone for a long time so as well as her quality she brings some experience and leadership to the group which will also help the younger ones in the squad.”
