There were only two games played by Partick Thistle Women’s FC during September and the two games had contrasting results. The month started with a difficult defeat to defending champions Rangers, however, the team bounced back superbly to pick up their first three points of the season as they beat Glasgow Women 8-1 at New Tinto Park.
Unsurprisingly, there were a slew of impressive performances in the convincing win over our city rivals but its now time to decide who was the pick of the bunch by voting for one of the following three Player of the Month candidates:
Abbie Ferguson
Abbie only joined the club on 7th September but her impact has been felt immediately. She made her debut against Rangers impressing in a cameo off the bench before going on to make her first start against Glasgow Women. The forward wasted no time in opening her Thistle account, scoring the team’s second goal in the 15th minute before showing another side to her game by creating three further goals for her teammates suggesting she’s going to be an important player during her time with PTWFC.
Cara Henderson
Cara Henderson started her Thistle career with an impressive run of form in August which she has carried into September. She was crucial to Thistle’s efforts against her former club Glasgow Women, setting up two goals in the first half including the opener. She also got herself on the scoresheet with just under 10 minutes to go as she slotted home the team’s eighth of the afternoon.
Jordan McLintock
Thistle’s number 11 made a bit of PTWFC history against Glasgow Women when she became the first Jag to score a hat trick at SWPL1 level. In fact, she was involved in all of the Jags’ first half goals as they took a 4-0 lead into the interval, scoring three times and assisting once. Her second strike was arguably the best of the game as she rifled home a left-footed volley from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.
