Partick Thistle Women’s FC is delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Cara Henderson ahead of the 2022/23 season.
She arrives at Petershill Park off the back of a promotion-winning campaign with Glasgow Women and Girls last season after which she won their Coaches’ and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
She also received league-wide recognition, winning the SWPL 2 Player of the Month award for October 2021 and being nominated for the SWPL 2 Player of the Year prize.
Formerly a youth player with Celtic Women, Henderson was the captain of their Academy side before going on to play for the senior team for the first time in late 2019.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said:
“We’re delighted that Cara has decided to join the club. She’s a terrific young player who excelled in SWPL 2 last season and I’m confident that she’s ready to make the step up to the top flight.
“Speaking to her, she seems hungry to do well and that’s the attitude we need to continue to grow as a club.
She’s earned her opportunity to play at this level and I’m very excited to see how she’ll fit into this team.
“She’s a hard-working player but also has the ability to be very creative, setting up chances as well as taking them herself and you can never have too many players like that in your team. Hopefully she’ll take the confidence she built up last season and carry that into the new campaign.”
Cara Henderson said:
“I’m really happy to be here. Having spoken to the staff and players, it feels like a really exciting time for the club and I’ve really enjoyed the training sessions I’ve already been a part of.
Last season was a great one for me but I’m now fully focussed on continuing to improve as a player.
“The team have got a lot of ambition for the season ahead and I want to make sure I’m playing as much as I can and contributing to the group effort.”
