Partick Thistle Women’s FC is excited to announce the signing of Rachel Wright from Glasgow City ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The 18-year-old midfielder has come through the youth ranks with City and got a taste of training with the SWPL champions’ first team squad over the course of last season.
That also led to a senior debut which came against Thistle as she played the final 15 minutes of our league clash at Petershill Park in February.
A Scottish youth internationalist at under 15s level, Rachel now joins the Jags looking to take the next step towards becoming a fully-fledged first team player in Scotland’s top flight.
Manager Brian Graham said: “I’m delighted to welcome Rachel to the club. She’s a versatile midfielder who can play a number of positions and she loves to attack. I think she will really compliment the players we have at the club. She is still young so still has a lot to learn but this will be the perfect place for her to do that.
“There were a number of clubs in for Rachel so I’m glad she saw what we are building here and chose Partick Thistle.
After signing on at Firhill Rachel said: “I’m really excited to be here and looking forward to the season starting already. I feel I can learn a lot from the experienced players in the squad while also making my own mark in the team.
“I saw Thistle finish top six last season. It’s a club that has a great feel to it and I want to be part of that”
