The Alan Rough Lounge at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill was packed on Saturday as nearly 200 people enjoyed Partick Thistle’s Hospitality before, during and after the game with Raith Rovers.
Former Jags Chic Charnley, Jim Duffy, John Mitchell and John Workman, with 486 Thistle appearances between them, were the guest speakers with present day assistant manager Paul McDonald delivering a chat ahead of kick-off that included the presentation of a signed strip plus PTFC whisky to Tony Kinner, the club’s player recruitment lead who was celebrating his 50th birthday.
There were further birthday celebrations for a number of other guests including Stuart Collin’s 50th and Charlie Todd’s 18th.Further special guests were Andy Hunter who was on his first visit to Firhill since 1962!
Hearts fans Jim and John Pringle who enjoyed getting a photo with ex-Hibee Brian Graham, and the wonderfully named Roger Moore, a Manchester United supporter who had travelled north just for the game.
After the 90 minutes there were post-match interviews with captain Graham and man of the match Stuart Bannigan, who was chosen by match sponsor Wright Kerr.
The club made presentations to sponsors Wright Kerr, Partick Thistle Charitable Trust (donated by Forrest Precision Engineering) and the Canal Inn with an extra presentation made to Johnny Brown of the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust, after he won McDonalds Community Champion
There was also an extra special auction of a signed Kingsley shirt that raised £1,000 raised for the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust.
And finally, almost £500 in cash prizes was handed out to guests including for a guess the attendance winner (one person was just two away) and guess the time of first goal (seven guests guessed minute six), as well as the 50/50 half-time draw winner – the runner-up won the new Kingsley strip with thanks to Greaves Sports.
