All at Partick Thistle Football Club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong Jags fan Reg Morrison, at the grand age of 91.
The thoughts and condolences of all connected to the club are with Reg’s family and close friends at this difficult time.
Reg passed away earlier this month following illness and being cared for at the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Yoker, a short drive from Firhill.
Just last year he was visited there by captain Brian Graham who spent a memorable hour in the company of Reg and his son Neil, learning of Reg’s love of all things Partick Thistle. That day, as Reg displayed his 1947/48 season ticket and told stories of Thistle’s past, Brian presented him with a signed strip from the then-current team and shared his own stories with Reg of his Thistle experience in the present day and hopes for the future.
On behalf of the club, Brian Graham said: “It remains a genuine highlight of my time at Thistle to have met Reg, to have spent time with him, shared stories and learned how much the club meant to him. Reg represents everything this club is all about.
“I’d like to offer my personal condolences to Reg’s family and loved ones, a sentiment shared by everyone at the club, and also make sure they know we are thinking of them at what will be such a tough time for them all. As I learned of Reg’s passing last Saturday on the day we played Falkirk, I’d like to dedicate my goal against Falkirk to him, that one was for Reg.”
The funeral of Reg Morrison will take place on Friday 25th October from 9.45am at Glasgow Crematorium (Old Chapel) and thereafter to GWR at 1051 Great Western Road for refreshments.
Rest in peace Reg Morrison. Once a Jag, always a Jag.
