Ricco Diack signs contract extension until 2027

Partick Thistle FC is thrilled to announce that Ricco Diack has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The striker, who turned 19 in May, had a breakthrough campaign last season playing 19 games and scoring three goals for Kris Doolan’s Jags after joining from the Partick Thistle Youth Academy as a modern apprentice.

Ricco made his debut for the club during the 2022/23 season, coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 home defeat to Hamilton but that was his only senior showing ahead of the 23/24 term.

Featuring off the bench three times in the first part of this past season, Diack announced himself on the professional stage against Airdrieonians on 2nd December 2023 when, with Brian Graham and Tomi Adeloye unavailable, he made his first start and scored after seven minutes as part of an all-round impressive display.

Thereafter he continued to get minutes, even when Graham and Adeloye returned, and went on to score a crucial equaliser against Morton at Cappielow and the team’s fourth in a 4-0 win over Airdrieonians at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.

Ricco now commits his long-term future to Partick Thistle and becomes the seventh member of the current squad to sign professional terms at the club having graduated from the Partick Thistle Youth Academy.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:

“I’ve spoken previously about how important I feel it is to have our best young players contracted to the club so that’s why we’re very pleased that Ricco has put pen to paper here.

“He only signed as a modern apprentice last summer but he made an immediate impression when he started training with the first team on a full-time basis. You can see from looking at him that he’s got the physical attributes to play senior football and he’s got a lot of talent as a finisher too.

“Football is often a game of opportunities and he took his with two hands on that day against Airdrieonians at the end of 2023. To step in and play the way he did says a lot about him but now he has to keep pushing and earn even more opportunities in the first team this coming season.”
