Richard Foster signs new one-year deal

Partick Thistle can today confirm that defender Richard Foster has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 35-year-old enjoyed a very successful first season as a Jag featuring 24 times as Thistle marched towards the League One title. Foster missed just two league games all season and ended the campaign by playing 90 minutes in eight consecutive matches; a run which ended with the full-back captaining the Jags against Montrose at Links Park.

As well as helping the team accomplish its main goal, Richard also achieved an impressive personal milestone this term as he played his 600th game in senior football in our 5-0 win over Montrose at Firhill in April.

On the deal, Thistle manager Ian McCall said:

“It’s fantastic that we’ve got Richard tied down for another year. He was a standout defensively last season and popped up with a few big assists after the break as well; the one at Dumbarton for Zak’s opening goal sticks out in my mind.

“On top of what he brings on the park, he’s an asset off the park too. He’s always talking to the younger players, trying to give them advice and I hope they’re taking everything on board because he’s got a lot of knowledge to pass on.”

An interview with Richard regarding his new contract is available to watch for JagZone subscribers now. Log in to watch.
