Partick Thistle FC can today announce the signing of goalkeeper Ross Stewart on a deal until the end of the season, subject to Scottish FA clearance, with the club holding an option to extend his contract for a further year.
Stewart arrives in Maryhill having most recently spent three seasons with Hearts where he served as back-up to Craig Gordon and worked with the Jambos goalkeeping coach and former Jag Paul Gallacher.
The former Scotland youth international came through the ranks at Motherwell before departing Fir Park for Albion Rovers in 2015, making 82 appearances for the Coatbridge side across two seasons.
Spells with St. Mirren, Livingston and Queen of the South followed before heading to Tynecastle, initially on loan and later permanently.
Ross will wear number 25 during his time at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.
Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“We’ve always spoken about adding as much competition as possible to this squad and bringing Ross into the fold does that within the goalkeeping department.
“He’s a player who’s been at a top club working with top players for a few seasons now and is keen to come here and really push for first team minutes. There has been interest in him from elsewhere in Scotland and down south so we’re delighted he’s chosen Thistle.
“Heading into the business end of the season, we need a squad full of players who are bringing the best out of each other and this signing feeds into that. We’ll continue working hard to add even more quality to this squad to put us in the best possible position for the second half of the season.”
