Partick Thistle Women’s FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Ross Stormonth as our new assistant manager.
Since we began accepting applications for the role at the start of last month we have received a lot of interest from a high standard of candidate but after careful consideration and an interview process, Ross became the stand out candidate and we’re pleased to be able to welcome Ross to the club.
Ross leaves his role at Rangers Women where he has been the head coach of their under-19s for over five years, where he has been responsible for producing some of Scotland’s most promising young players including Jodi McLeary, Kirsty Maclean and Emma Watson who have all progressed into the Rangers first team under Ross’ guidance, with Watson also recently making her full Scotland debut against Australia.
Stormonth’s excellent work was recognised on a national level last year when he was named the Scottish Women’s Football Youth Coach of the Year.
Prior to working with the under-19s at Rangers, Ross worked as the Gers’ under-12s to under-14s head coach, as the Development Team head coach at Stirling University Women and as an under-16s regional coach in the Scottish FA set-up.
His proven track record of coaching in high-pressure environments and developing young players, giving them a chance to develop and grow made Ross an ideal candidate for our assistant manager’s role.
Welcome to PTWFC, Ross!
Manager Brian Graham Said: “We’re really excited to have Ross as our new Assistant Mananger. He’s a coach who is revered in the women’s game and
his track record of developing young players is second-to-none in Scotland.
“We want to support our players with a coaching team full of different perspectives and experiences and Ross will add a lot to the staff in that regard. We want to keep pushing and improving as a club from top to bottom and I’m thoroughly convinced Ross will be a huge asset as we aim to do that.”
New Assistant Manager Ross Stormonth said:
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join Partick Thistle Women’s FC. It’s a club that’s come a long way in the last few years and the chance to be a part of that was one that I was immediately interested in.
“The coaches and players here have obviously done a fantastic job this season with their top six finish so I’m very keen to start working with them.
As a club, we want to become a regular feature of the top six and compete with the biggest clubs in Scotland so that challenge is one I can’t wait to get stuck into.”
