Sallu Turay heads to Benburb on loan

Partick Thistle FC can today confirm that Sallu Turay has joined Benburb on a season-long loan deal.

A product of the Partick Thistle Youth Academy, Sallu is in the second year of his modern apprenticeship which he signed last summer alongside Jamie Taggart and Ricco Diack.

The 17-year-old attacker, who hasn’t yet made his competitive Jags debut, appeared in our pre-season friendly against Glenafton at Loch Park and was on the bench for three of our Premier Sports Cup group stage fixtures.

He now joins West of Scotland Football League Premier Division side Benburb who currently sit 15th after just a handful of games.

Turay made his debut for Paul Lovering’s side last night as they lost 2-0 to Shotts Bon Accord at New Tinto Park.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan:

“Sallu was out on loan with Gartcairn for part of last season but the back end of the campaign was interrupted by a few injury problems which was a real shame. He’s been working hard in pre-season though and is now ready to go and make a mark with Benburb.

“That won’t be easy for a young player in a very competitive league but we have belief in Sallu’s abilities and feel this could be the ideal chance for his to hone his skills.”
