Thistle go into the match against Alloa Athletic on the back of three wins on the bounce hoping to continue the run of form and move off the foot of the Championship table.
Two wins in the cup have followed the ten men victory over Morton and Steven Saunders wants to keep that run going.
Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “We’ve put a string of results together now. It doesn’t matter who we were playing, it’s three wins on the bounce and we have to take that form back into the league now.
“We’ve always known we have to string results together and it’s important now to put some points on the board in the league. We know if we can do that, we will start to move up the table”
The match gives Thistle the chance to leapfrog their opponents and Saunders knows just how important the game is.
“We know it’s a massively important the game on Tuesday but we go in high on confidence and we are looking to take all three points.
“Every game between now and the end of the season is important now for us if we want to match our ambitions we have to start putting points on the board and do that regularly”
The Jags number 43 knows the Red and Yellow army have an important part to play
“We’re at home and we have to use that to our advantage, Firhill is always a great place to play, especially under the floodlights at night. It is always a good atmosphere and we know the crowd will be right behind us, that can be massive and make all the difference in games like this.”
Looking back at the game on Saturday, Steven admitted the performance wasn’t good enough but they done enough to get into the next round.
“The performance wasn’t up to Thistle standard, we know that, but we have to be happy to have at least won the game.
“It’s the Scottish Cup, you need to win games to go through. It wasn’t the performance we wanted but a wins a win and we are through to the next round. There were a few scary moments but we got the result.”
The other pleasing thing was the clean sheet and the defender was happy to record another one.
“As a defender you want to keep clean sheets so we are pleased to have done that and hopefully It gives us something to build on against Alloa”.
