Seven Wealth POTM for October goes to Oisin Smyth

In what is just his second month as a Partick Thistle player, Oisin Smyth has been chosen as the Seven Wealth Player of the Month for October!

The Northern Irishman was the runaway winner for this month’s award, earning just over 55% of the overall vote which launched on Tuesday afternoon.

Oisin started all five of the Jags’ games during October, establishing himself as an integral part of Thistle’s midfield as they pushed up to 2nd place in the William Hill Championship.

Having missed the last game of September – against Queen’s Park – with a knock, Smyth returned to the side against Arbroath at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill. The following week he started again against Greenock Morton, hitting the woodwork twice as the team fought from behind to earn a point at Cappielow.

Seven days later, as we faced Ross County, he would get the goal he had come so close to getting in Inverclyde. After playing a diagonal switch out to Logan Chalmers on the left flank, Oisin burst into the Staggies’ box to get on the end of the winger’s cross and volley past Trevor Carson to earn his team three vital points.

The St. Mirren loanee has gone on to play the full 90 in the two games since that winner against County and is now firmly entrenched in Mark Wilson’s starting XI with the Firhill faithful recognising his efforts with this Seven Wealth Player of the Month prize.

Upon receiving the award, Oisin said:

“I’ve been delighted with the start to my time here at Thistle. In September, I was just settling into things and getting to know the club but this month I feel like I’ve taken a big step forward and started to find a rhythm in the team.

“Ultimately, I came here on loan to play more football and I’ve done that over the last few weeks but more importantly I’ve been contributing to a positive run for the team. The result on Saturday was a frustrating one but we’re in a great position when you look at the bigger picture.

“Getting my first goal for the club was a brilliant feeling and for it to be a winner was even better. Hopefully there’s more to come from me in front of goal and I can help us pick up more wins and points as the season goes on.”
