Partick Thistle can today confirm that Shea Gordon will join Queen of the South on loan for the remainder of the 2021/22 season, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The terms of the loan agreement mean that Shea is not eligible to face Thistle when the sides meet in competitive matches for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old joined the club, initially on loan, in 2019 and has gone on to make 76 appearances, scoring 15 goals in the time since.
Shea played an important part in our League One title success last season featuring in all but one of our games during the campaign and starting five of our last six games as we marched towards promotion.
So far this season, he has played 12 times scoring one goal – the fourth in a 4-0 win over Ayr United at Somerset Park.
Everyone at the club wishes Shea all the best during his loan spell in Dumfries.
Thistle manager Ian McCall said:
“The competition for places in midfield is incredibly strong this season and Shea has found it hard to get into the team this year. He is a player with plenty of ability, which he showed for us last season, but he’s at an age where he wants to be playing more regularly than he currently is.
“Shea has never given less than 100% since I’ve arrived back at Firhill whether that’s in training, when coming off the bench or filling in at right-back.
“This loan move doesn’t mean his time here at Thistle is over so hopefully he goes out and plays plenty of football and then we can speak to him again about his situation in the summer.”
