Partick Thistle can today confirm the signing of Luke McBeth from Glenafton Athletic for an undisclosed fee, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The 24 year old defensive midfielder joins on an 18 month contract with the club holding an option to extend for a further year.
Luke arrives in Maryhill having completed a football scholarship in the USA between 2018 and 2022. Starting at Lindenwood University in Missouri, Luke played 32 times netting 12 goals during his Freshman and Sophomore years. After transferring to Monmouth University in New Jersey, Luke continued to combine his football development with academic studies.
Arriving back in Scotland in late 2022, Luke spent last season on the books of East Kilbride FC before joining Glenafton Athletic during the summer. Following a lengthy trial period with the club, Luke has now put pen to paper on a professional contract until 2025.
Luke will wear number 19 for the rest of the 2023/23 season.
As part of the transfer agreement for Luke’s registration, a first team Thistle side will face Glenafton in a friendly fixture later in 2024.
An interview with our latest signing will be available on JagZone later this week.
Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“I’m pleased to bring Luke to the club as he is a player who has a lot of quality. He’s been in training with us, with the blessing of Glenafton, for a couple of months now and we’ve been very impressed with the attributes and quality that Luke has.
“Luke reminds me of myself in terms of his pathway from part-time lower league football into the professional game and he has everything that he needs to be successful in the modern game. Luke has left his mark on the squad and management team and when the opportunity became available to add Luke to our ranks, it was an easy decision for me.
“Our January transfer window has started in busy fashion with three players leaving, all of whom we wish well for the future, but Luke is the first new addition to our squad. We’re continuing to work hard with the off-field team to add more quality to our squad and improve our side for the second half of this season and beyond.”
