Partick Thistle would confirm that after discussions between themselves and Greenock Morton the recently postponed William Hill Championship Match between the clubs at Cappielow Park supported by Dalrada Technology UK will be played on Tuesday, December 31 with a 3.00pm kick-off.
Both clubs were advised by the SPFL that the game should be played before the end of 2024, and are aware that whilst the announcement earlier this week to play at that time, was welcomed by some, it was unpopular with many others.
As fan owned clubs both Greenock Morton and Partick Thistle looked into what other options were available. At the end of that review Greenock Morton endorsed the selection of the December 31 date as in their opinion the game was attractive to festive period visitors, no other matches are taking place in Scotland on that date and other matches in the UK are being held at that time and that public transport is accessible for both sets of supporters.
Moving the game to an alternative date would have required a joint referral to the SPFL and on this occasion consensus could not be reached.
