Steven Lawless

During Saturday’s draw at East End Park against Dunfermline Athletic, Steven Lawless left the field injured midway through the second half.

Following assessment on Saturday from our physiotherapist Robin Dicke, supported by the club doctor and medical department at Dunfermline Athletic, Steven saw a specialist in Glasgow earlier today.

The outcome of that appointment is confirmation that Steven has ruptured his Achilles tendon and will undergo surgery later this week as he starts a lengthy rehabilitation that will hopefully see him returning to the Firhill pitch in early 2025.

All at Partick Thistle Football Club wish Steven the very best with his surgery later this week and will give him all the support necessary to aid his return to full fitness.

This is devastating news for Steven and we know the red and yellow army will also offer their very best wishes to a player who always gives his all for the club.

Partick Thistle Manager Kris Doolan said: “First and foremost, we’re all gutted for Stevie that he has sustained a very serious injury during Saturday’s game. It was an innocuous incident at the time but it became clear soon after the full-time whistle that it was going to be a very significant injury. Thanks to the diligent work of Rob, our physio, Steven will undergo surgery later this week with one of the very best surgeons in Scotland.

“There’s no denying that it is a blow to lose one of our most influential players to a season-ending injury. However the most important thing from all of us now is that we do everything we can as a club to support Stevie and help him in his rehabilitation journey ahead and we all look forward to the day where we see him stepping back onto the Firhill pitch in red and yellow once again.”

Finally, Partick Thistle FC would also like to thank Dunfermline Athletic physiotherapist Craig Reynolds and Dunfermline Athletic club doctor Paul Grealis for their help and assistance provided after the full-time whistle on Saturday.
