What a weekend for fans of Partick Thistle men’s and women’s teams as both sides progressed to the next stages of respective cup competitions.
First up on Saturday, Kris Doolan’s men’s side defeated Ross County 3-0 to take a place in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup where we will face Livingston at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill following last night’s draw. The tie is scheduled to be played on the weekend of Saturday, 10 February – further details for the fixture will follow in due course.
A huge thank you is due to the noisy red and yellow army who travelled to Dingwall in less than perfect conditions and backed the team from start to finish, once again making a real difference.
The weather conditions were even worse at Petershill Park yesterday but nothing could dampen spirits after Brian Graham’s women’s team beat Hibernian 2-0 to book their place in the Sky Sports Cup Final in March.
A record-breaking achievement for PTWFC and a record crowd for a Thistle women’s match at Petershill, with an impressive 604 braving the conditions to cheer on captain Demi Falconer and her team-mates. Congratulations to all at PTWFC on a superb victory and achievement.
Once again, everyone at Thistle would like to thank all supporters who made it to Springburn yesterday and created a special atmosphere for a truly special occasion.
PTWFC secretary Beth Adamson is in contact with the SWPL and other stakeholders regarding the date and time for the final which we are desperate to be moved to allow all connected with Thistle to enjoy this historic occasion. We will provide any further update to supporters as soon as we can.
