The ’21 Cup – The Final

On this day 100 years ago, Partick Thistle’s class of 1920/21 travelled to Celtic Park to contest the final of the Scottish Cup against Rangers.

For the first time in the club’s history, Thistle were just 90 minutes away from the biggest prize in their history.

League champions Rangers stood in our way and few give the Firhill side much chance of causing an upset.

The game is already causing a controversy with increased ticket prices leading to a proposed fans’ boycott for the game at Celtic Park.

Thistle are Scottish Cup winners for the first time in their history.

It’s Thistle’s cup.

The Jags’ 11 heroes fight bravely to win the Scottish Cup for the first time in a hard fought encounter with league leaders and clear favourites Rangers.

A goal in the 23rd minute by John Blair from a Willie Salisbury cross after a magnificent through ball from captain Jimmy McMenemy was enough to secure the trophy.

Keeper Kenny Campbell performed heroics yet again to keep the Rangers’ stars out. Thistle were missing two of their top defenders Hamilton and McMullan but their replacements Wilson and Borthwick were stoic and unforgiving on the day.

A newly created 40-minute commemorative film brings the 1921 Scottish Cup win to life, featuring new and exclusive interviews with relatives of members of the team and supporters with family who attended the final.

The 1921 documentary is not available for individual purchase. Following its premiere tonight at 7pm to those who buy any of our three commemorative packages, it will thereafter be made available to be viewed free by all supporters.

If you have purchased a 1921 commemorative package and haven’t received details for tonight’s viewing, please contact  .
