As may be known to some fans, former Thistle player, assistant manager and manager Gerry Collins has been fighting serious health challenges for some time.
This Saturday, we want you to show Gerry and his family how much he means to the club. It is fitting that this request comes ahead of our cinch Championship fixture against Ayr United, another club he cares deeply about.
Here at Firhill, Gerry was a warrior of a centre-half, before giving a certain generation of Thistle fans some of the best football moments of their lives during a number of spells as a superb assistant manager to his great friend, John Lambie.
Although his own spell as manager wasn’t the success we all wanted, there has never been any questioning Gerry’s commitment, dedication and love for the Jags. He was all-in.
This Saturday, as the clock hits minute four (as chosen by Gerry) in the first half, we ask home – and away – supporters to join and belt out a chorus of “There’s Only One Gerry Collins” followed by a standing ovation for Gerry, his family and those closest to him.
This request is made with the blessing of Gerry and his family. Thanks for your support.
There’s only one Gerry Collins – and so say all of us.
