Thistle Weir Youth Academy looking for Youth Programme coaches

The Thistle Weir Youth Academy are seeking two highly motivated, skilful, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Youth Programme, appointments are part time working with young players age level U13s.

You will play a key role in the delivery of the coaching programme including the planning, delivery, of coaching sessions in line with the Club’s coaching and player development frameworks.

The individual must be able to provide an excellent service to young people and parents and show the necessary desire and commitment to develop her/himself professionally and continuously within the role.

Previous experience of working within an academy structure is preferable and candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skills. Furthermore, applicants should possess the ability to set up, manage and develop the learning environment that allows young people to feel safe and confident.

Candidates as a minimum must hold the SFA Club Academy Scotland (CAS) minimum qualifications for these roles as highlighted in the defined job description.

Responsibilities

Overall, Purpose of Job:

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting and implementing the coaching curriculum established by the Head of Children’s Programme, Head of Youth Programme and Head of Academy. Delivering effective and innovative session plans in line with the football club’s philosophy.

Main Responsibilities/Description of Duties:

  • To provide the appropriate age level coaching at the required level for a group or groups under his/her tutelage.
  • To produce a monthly report (be it verbal or written) for the Head of the Children’s/ Head of Youth phase, covering all aspects of the young players’ development.
  • Detail young player attendance at coaching sessions along with coaching content and match day game time. This input is to be delivered to the named person for centralised input to database on a weekly basis.
  • Consult with academy staff building robust relationships.
  • Liaise and develop a positive relationship with parents or guardians of our youngsters within the development program.
  • Develop and teach the young players to understand the benefits to be gained in a healthy lifestyle, diet, drug awareness, education and codes of conduct, this list is not exhaustive.
  • Discuss and select the team during CAS (Club Academy Scotland) games programme.
  • To attend all Thistle Weir Academy in-service days as required (conducted at convenient times).
  • Attending coaching courses as directed by the Head of Academy.
  • Ensure a safe environment for training and coaching is provided
  • Maintain up to date CPD for the appropriate licence qualification.
  • To abide by all club policies including (but not exclusive to) Safeguarding, Equality and Health & Safety.
  •  To perform any other duties that are required by management and are within the applicant’s capabilities.

Qualifications

Essential:

Relevant SFA qualifications; Advanced Children’s Licence (ACL); SFA Children’s Award/Licence

Coaching Experience

Disclosure Scotland Clearance

 

Desirable:

SFA Child Wellbeing Course Certification

Previous football experience

SFA online Mental Health Course
