The pitch is in pristine condition and now Firhill’s interiors are squeaky clean too – thanks to a new partnership between the club and Springburn-based SWGR.
A new Decontamination Service launched by SWGR, a multi-sector manpower and training specialist just five minutes from Maryhill, has attracted significant demand since its introduction in June.
Now the Jags are the latest to use the service, with SWGR providing a number of free site visits and cleans as a gesture of support for the company’s local professional football team. As the Firhill offices reopened following lockdown, SWGR visited Firhill to deep clean all office spaces, the manager’s office, dressing rooms and boardroom and will repeat this in the weeks ahead.
The service sees trained and protected staff access sites when vacant, using a fogging technique to eliminate viruses, germs and bad bacteria from surfaces. This mitigation approach focuses on touch points and includes all electrical appliances to which there is no risk due to the density of the mist. The physio room, kit storage area and Colin Weir Stand reception area are among the other areas being treated at this stage.
Partick Thistle Chief Executive Gerry Britton said: “We are extremely appreciative of the support of SWGR as we do everything to meet and, where possible, exceed all requirements on the path back to football at Firhill. The cleanliness of those stadium areas which will return to use initially will provide peace of mind for everyone and that scope will be extended as we near the return of matches and, eventually, supporters too.”
Terry Flynn, SWGR Chief Executive, added: “It’s been a tough six months for everyone but Partick Thistle have suffered a tougher hand than many – so it was an easy decision to offer our support to the club and help them get the stadium ready for reopening. We will be proud to help get Firhill ready for football again and hope Ian and the boys can clean up on the pitch this season once matches resume.”
