Partick Thistle FC is delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Luis Cameron, midfielder Che Campbell and striker Thomas Horn are the latest players to sign modern apprenticeships with the club as they make the step up from Partick Thistle Youth Academy this summer.
Following in the footsteps of current Jags first teamers such as Aidan Fitzpatrick and Ben Stanway among others, the trio have all put pen to paper on two-year modern apprenticeships which will see them training with our senior squad on a full-time basis starting this pre-season.
All three players have already spent some time training with Kris Doolan’s first team with Horn and Campbell having been named in several matchday squads towards the end of last season – in fact Campbell made his professional debut in our final game of the regular league campaign against Dundee United.
Everyone at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill would like to officially welcome Luis, Che and Thomas to the club and wish them the best of luck for the season ahead.
Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“I’m pleased to have Luis, Che and Thomas as part of our first team set-up as we move through pre-season. All three of them have shown up well in the time they’ve had training with us so far and now we’ll get to see even more of them as we gear up for the competitive season.
“I hope last season showed the younger players that if they’re good enough and show the right attitude then they’ll get their opportunities when the time is right.”
Partick Thistle Youth Academy Director Craig Dargo said:
“It’s always a proud day for the Academy when we see some of our young players making the step up to the first team squad.
“Ultimately, the Academy’s main goal is to produce players who can play for Partick Thistle so to see Luis, Che and Thomas signing their modern apprenticeships is the culmination of hard work that’s been done right throughout the Academy over a number of years.
“We now look at Kris’ squad and there are 12 players who have come through here at Thistle with 11 of those graduating in the last six years. That’s really satisfying to see for everyone involved at Partick Thistle Youth Academy and we’ll continue to work hard in conjunction with the first team staff to ensure our players always have that pathway to the first team squad.”
