Ticket Office named in honour of Alan Limond

Partick Thistle were extremely proud to officially open The Alan Limond Ticket Office on Saturday ahead of the William Hill Championship Match against Greenock Morton.

The Ticket Office had been a grey portacabin since it was placed behind The Jackie Husband Stand last December as a replacement for a previous structure however a plan was quickly hatched to turn it into a fitting tribute to a volunteer who has given over 50 years of service to the club.

Alan first joined The Jags in 1974 as a Turnstile Operator on match days before moving to the Ticket Office with Saturday’s game marking the start of his 51st league season at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill.

At one stage a proposal was mooted to call the Ticket Office, The Limond Family Ticket Office, as Alan’s wife Vivienne, their children: Dawn, Amber and Scott and their grand-children: Calum, Cameron, Olivia and Iona have all volunteered there however after family and club discussions it was agreed to name it in honour of Alan.

Alan said: “It is a really nice touch from the club to call it, The Alan Limond Ticket Office, and I really like the design as it stands out brightly from just behind The Jackie Husband Stand. I would have been just as pleased with The Limond Family Ticket Office name after them all working there.”

“It is not just my family that I worked with over the years. There has been loads of volunteers who have given the club their time as well with Graham Paton and Jackie Shaw being colleagues for decades as well.”

Operations Manager Gus Watson added: “Every club has its heroes on and off the park and Alan is one of ours in a non-playing role. To give over 50 years service to Partick Thistle shows an outstanding level of commitment on his part.”

“I am sure to give such service with his family alongside makes Alan proud. He thanked us for naming the ticket office after him, but the thanks should all be going in the opposite direction.”
