Tiffoney enjoying life at Firhill

It’s fair to say that Partick Thistle number 19 Scott Tiffoney has hit the ground running at Firhill since signing on loan from Livingston just over a month ago. The 22-year-old has scored six goals in nine games as a Jag with a selection of assists to boot and has become an integral part of a flourishing Thistle attack. Tiffoney spoke to ptfc.co.uk ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Airdrieonians at Firhill:

“Every game we play now is going to be massive and it’s been that way for a while now to be fair. Airdrieonians have been in good form as of late so it’s going to be a real test but we have to go out and look to win the game because we know we’re capable.

“The last time we played them it was that 4-2 game over at their place and that was one of our best attacking performances we’ve had since I’ve been here so, this time at home, we know that if we’re at our best we can win the game.”

Reflecting further on the side’s victory at the Penny Cars Stadium last month, the winger remembered a couple of key moments.

“They had a good first half an hour or so and were in front pretty much straight away but then Kieran Wright made a massive save to keep it 1-0 and then we went straight up the other end and scored. That was the big turning point in that match and I think has proved to be pretty important in the season overall.

“It was a good afternoon for me personally as well and set me off on a great footing as a Thistle player. It was my league debut and I got two goals to mark it so hopefully I can repeat that this Saturday.”

The former Morton player sits within the top ten in the divisional scoring charts despite having played just seven League One games and he says he’s thoroughly enjoying his stint at Firhill.

“It’s been right up there with the most enjoyable spells of my career so far. I’ve really enjoyed everything about it but we’re not done yet and I’m hoping to end the season on a high.

“My game is all about creating chances and getting goals and I’ve been able to do that right from the first game. When you get into that rhythm you feel a confidence that drives you forward and with the games coming so quickly I’ve just been able to keep the momentum going as far as scoring and assisting goes.”

Now, the league enters a split with four games left for each team to play and Scott says the squad can’t get too far ahead of themselves.

“Each game is massively important now because we’re so close to the end of the season but also every game is going to be against a team in the top half of the table so we just need to take each game one at a time and make sure we perform to the best of our abilities. We know what we’re capable of and believe we can win any game when we’re at our best.”
