All at Partick Thistle were extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Tom Harvey, one of the founding members of the ’71 Club, on Sunday 16th May after a short illness.
Tom’s association with Thistle began as an 18-year-old when Bertie Auld brought him to the youth team from Hibs. He was a striker who scored goals for fun. Tom’s sense of humour was reflected in his story of when Bertie told the squad that if anyone could get the ball into a wheelbarrow, he would give them a fiver. All the guys started kicking the ball and missing the ‘barrow, Tom picked the ball up and placed it in, he got the fiver!
In later years, Tom accompanied groups of children from a local Glasgow school to home games to nurture in them a love of football in a community-oriented club.
Most recently, Tom joined the Ambassadors Club where he brought friends and family to share his enjoyment of Partick Thistle.
The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with Tom`s family and friends at this sad time.
