Tomorrow evening’s match against Celtic is Thistle’s first home Ladbrokes Premiership match of 2018. With five wins from our last six home games, The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill is proving to be a tough place for opposition teams to visit. In tomorrow night’s match programme co-editor, Christopher Dobie, spoke to the Jags resident Aussie, Ryan Edwards about his thoughts on the winter break.
“I think it’s a good thing. It may be a bit grating for the fans to go three weeks without seeing their team play but from a player’s point of view it’s brilliant. You get the chance to recharge your batteries just after the games end and then you can get together as a squad and really analyse the first half of the season which can only help us to improve. From a Thistle point of view, it’s allowed us to bring a few injured players back into the squad and that will improve the team too. Although it does clog December up a bit, it stops as many games being called off which is something that we had a problem with in my first year here and postponed games will clog up the fixture list too so I think it has enough going for it to be continued in the future.”
