Trio leave Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle can today confirm that Ross Docherty, Kevin Holt and Kyle Turner have chosen to leave the club.

The trio were made an offer to remain at Firhill but have elected to continue their footballing careers elsewhere.

Ross Docherty arrived at the club in the summer of 2020 and captained the side to an immediate League One title success. An almost ever present in the Jags side, when fit for selection, Ross featured 108 times in red and yellow scoring 8 memorable goals for the club.

Kevin Holt spent two years with the club flitting between left back and centre half in his 84 games as a Jag. It wasn’t just at the back that Kevin made an impact on the side, he also presented a dangerous threat in the opposition box with 14 goals during his two seasons in red and yellow.

A Thistle Weir Youth Academy graduate, Kyle Turner returned to Firhill with first experience under his belt arriving with a strong reputation in the summer of 2021 having featured against Thistle during our League One campaign. His two seasons at Firhill displayed strong form as he led the Championship for assists during both campaigns as a Jag, helping to tee up 14 goals, in addition to seven goals, as he helped the side reach the Premiership play-off final.

All at Firhill sincerely thank Ross, Kevin and Kyle for their contributions in red and yellow and wish them well in their future footballing career.

Discussions remain ongoing with other players who are out of contract this summer and we will provide updates on those players future when appropriate.

Thistle manager, Kris Doolan, said:

“We made the best offers we could to keep Ross, Kevin and Kyle at the club however there has been strong interest elsewhere, understandably so given recent performances. They – and Scott Tiffoney – have each chosen to pursue opportunities beyond Firhill which is their right and they leave with my very best wishes having served the club so well.

“I can assure fans I have been working around the clock over the past two weeks on securing deals with players who want to play for Partick Thistle next season and we will be able to begin announcing some of those this week. The response from Jags fans over the past fortnight or so has been nothing short of remarkable, in particular season ticket sales, which is a huge boost and makes me even more proud to be Partick Thistle manager.”
