There’s no place like home for Kyle Turner whose successful return in red and yellow has led to him being named your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for July.
Back at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill for a second spell, Turner’s two goals and two assists during July’s Premier Sports Cup group stage made Jags fans feel like he’d never left in the first place as the midfielder saw off Brian Graham and Harry Milne in the vote.
The popular midfielder collected the first award of his second spell prior to Saturday’s league opener against Morton and is fully focused on a successful campaign ahead.
As he was presented with his award, Turner said:
“It’s brilliant to be back at Thistle, I said it when I signed but it does feel like being back home. The club means a lot to me, I’ve felt really settled since day one, so it’s been great to hit the ground running.
“Obviously the Premier Sports Cup was a mixed bag and we were disappointed not to get through. On a personal level I was happy enough especially with the goals and assists, and for the team it was good to end with such a strong performance against Motherwell which sets the sort of standard we are really looking to hit week after week.”
Kyle was presented with his award by delighted young footballers from Prep4Pro, a team visiting the club from Richmond, Virginia, USA during a week-long football camp.
The Jags number six chose Beatson Cancer Charity to receive a donation from award sponsor McCrea Financial Services, who have again committed to monthly charitable donations for all monthly award winners this season.
Turner added: “There might be a few Thistle fans aware that the Beatson is a place close to the heart of the Turner family after my Mum was successfully treated and so well cared for there, so there was never any doubt that’s where the donation was going.
“I’m grateful to McCrea Financial Services for making that donation and I’m told Thistle and the Beatson worked together again towards the end of last season so hopefully we can support them as a charity in the season ahead again.”
