Like it has with all Thistle fans the news last week of Colin Weir’s passing came as a profound shock to the Working Group.
It had been our intention to hold our next public meeting on Thursday January 9th. In light of recent events we feel that the more appropriate action would be to delay this meeting until a date a respectful period after Colin’s funeral. We will naturally provide details of the rescheduled date and venue as soon as we are in a position to confirm them.
Meantime the initial closing date for applications to join the Working Group has now passed. We were greatly impressed not just by the number of applications received but by the diversity of skills offered and the cross section of the Thistle support that they represent.
The Working Group will now take a few days to consider all the applications and how best to utilise those skills to take forward Colin Weir’s vision of Fan Ownership of Partick Thistle Football Club. It is vital that the Working Group is representative of the Thistle support as a whole and not reflective of a few small groupings. We believe that the wide variety of applications received provides us with an excellent opportunity to do just that.
To conclude we would like to thank the Thistle supporters for their patience at this time but are confident that our reasoning for rescheduling our next public meeting will be understood. In the meantime we would like to wish Thistle fans, near and far, a very happy New Year as we approach what could be a momentous 2020 for our club.
