The Partick Thistle Youth Academy under 16s will be competing in the CAS League Cup Final this Sunday as they take on Dundee at the Indodrill Stadium in Alloa!
Their journey to the final, which will kick off at 1:30pm, began when they topped their group ahead of Celtic, Rangers, Kilmarnock, Queen’s Park and St. Mirren, scoring 21 goals and conceding just four along the way.
St. Johnstone were the opposition in the Young Jags’ semi-final and it took an 89th minute winner from Ceiran Loney to get past the Saints and book a spot in the showpiece fixture following a collective, hard-fought performance.
David Elliot, PTYA Under 16s coach said:
“I’m delighted for the boys who have done really well this year. Academy football is not just about winning leagues and trophies it’s about professional and personal development and we’ve done just that this year.”
“It has been brilliant to see Ceiran Loney, Che Cambell and Thomas Horn involved in the first team recently and the cup final on Sunday is testament to the hard graft the boys have put in all season.”
Striker Christopher MacKay added:
“It’s a massive personal and professional achievement to reach the league cup final. All of the boys are working really hard in training and preparations are well underway for Sunday.”
There is a lot of hard work done throughout the Academy over the course of a season so occasions like these are meant to be savoured.
Entry to the game is completely free for all supporters so please come along to the Indodrill and back the Young Jags!
