Thistle Weir Youth Academy graduate Zander MacKenzie has received a call-up to the Scotland Men’s Under-19s squad for their upcoming friendlies against Belgium and the Czech Republic.
The 17-year-old earns a spot in Billy Stark’s squad off the back of an impressive start to the season which saw him start all four of our Viaplay Cup group stage games on the right side of defence before he suffered a minor strain prior to our opening cinch Championship fixture.
The two friendlies will take place in Hasselt, Belgium on the 6th and 9th of September so as a consequence Zander will miss our SPFL Trust Trophy tie against Queen of the South at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.
Everyone at the club wishes Zander the best of luck for his time away with Scotland.
