Partick Thistle Football Club can today confirm that Zander MacKenzie has joined Queen of the South on loan until January, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
A graduate of our Youth Academy, Zander has been part of the Jags’ first team set-up since signing his modern apprenticeship with the club in May 2022, just a couple of months prior to his Thistle debut.
Over the course of his time with the senior squad, MacKenzie has played 61 times and scored one goal – a terrific volley in a 3-0 win over Queen’s Park last year.
He has featured four times competitively this season, coming off the bench on each of those occasions.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“Zander is a player who we have a lot of belief in but, with Kyle Turner coming back from injury and Oisin Smyth joining, it was apparent that a loan move would be the best option to get him playing regularly.
“He only turned 20 last month so he’s still very young but, even so, we want him to get regular experience of senior football so he can continue to develop and learn properly.
“Queen of the South are right in the mix at the top end of an incredibly competitive division at the moment which means, all being well, he’ll be playing in crunch games just about every week for a team with ambitions of going up – that can only serve him well for when he comes back to us.”
