The talented midfielder suffered an injury ravaged 2015/16 campaign when a back injury meant he never made his first Development League appearance until the turn of the year. Having finally shaken that off, Andy recaptured his best form, performing well as a playmaker at Development level.
McCarthy made his first team debut in the Scottish Cup against Formartine United in January 2017. The midfielder ended the 2016/17 season well making a number of senior appearances including a start in Thistle’s 1-1 draw with Celtic. He signed a contract extension with Partick Thistle in the summer of last year.
A combination of injury and Development League suspension made for a slow start to the new campaign. He eventually made his first start of the season in the Jags’ first win of the league campaign against Dundee.
However, Andy built up a substantial catalogue of appearances in the back end of the season, proving to be one of the club’s best performers in a disappointing period which ended in relegation.
Contract Expires: May 2019
