Partick Thistle completed the signing of experienced striker Brian Graham on 23rd January 2020 from Ross County.
The 6’2 attacker penned a two-and-a-half year deal in Maryhill as he became Ian McCall’s fifth new signing of the winter transfer window.
Graham began his career with Greenock Morton, making his senior debut for the Ton in 2006 before moving on to Raith Rovers in 2011 where he would score 38 times in 69 games across all competitions.
He went on to have spells at Dundee United, St. Johnstone, Ross County and Hibernian before opting for a new challenge in the form of a move down south to play for Cheltenham Town in the EFL League Two.
After a season with the Robins, he was tempted into a return to Scottish football by one of his former employers, Ross County. The Glasgwegian signed with the Staggies ahead of the 2018/19 campaign and would score 14 goals that term as the Highlanders won the Ladbrokes Championship and Scottish Challenge Cup.
Brian featured regularly for County in the Scottish Premiership during the first half of the 19/20 season, netting six goals in 23 appearances in all competitions before moving to Maryhill.
Graham only made seven appearances between his arrival at Thistle and the season’s premature end in March 2020 but he scored three goals in that time including the team’s last before the shutdown; an injury-time equaliser against Dunfermline.
The number nine proved a vital asset for Ian McCall’s side as they secured an immediate return to the Championship finishing as the team’s top scorer with 11 goals in 19 League One matches.
Graham was the go-to man for goals throughout the 20/21 campaign with his most important goals including a double at home against East Fife, a first half winner against Airdrieonians in April and a brace in the title-clincher against Falkirk.
He was the Jags’ top goalscorer again during the 2021/22 campaign as he scored 13 league goals and 18 in all competitions, helping Thistle to a top four spot.
The highlights of his 21/22 campaign were a hat-trick at Inverness and a two-goal and two-assist performance against Hamilton Accies at the Fountain of Youth Stadium, with his efforts rewarded with a place in the PFA Scotland Championship Team of the Year.
Brian followed that up with an even bigger haul during the 2022/23 term as he racked up 21 goals in 45 games including five during the team’s run to the play-off final.
Those goals helped to take him past 50 for the club, becoming the fifth fastest Jag to reach the mark post-WW2.
Following that monumental season, Brian signed a one-year extension to his Thistle contract and was named club captain by Thistle manager Kris Doolan.
Brian gazumped himself again during 2023/24 as he bagged a monstrous 26 goals in all competitions, becoming the first Jag to score 20 league goals in one campaign since the early 80s.
He picked up a barrow-load of awards including the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Year and the PFA Scotland Player of the Year prizes.
Contract Expires: Summer 2026
