Cale Loughrey signed for Partick Thistle on Tuesday, 13th January 2026, penning an 18-month contract.
The Toronto-born defender moved to Maryhill from Hamilton Accies where he had spent the first half of the 2025/26 season, making 24 appearances in all competitions.
Loughrey’s playing career had started in his homeland turning out in the Canadian Premier League for the likes of Unionville Milliken SC and HFX Wanderers before he was tempted overseas by the chance to play for Corvinul Hunedoara in Romania.
After half a year in Eastern Europe he made the move to Scotland fulfilling a long-held ambition to play in the country where his father originated from.
His Thistle debut came on 13th January 2026 when he featured as a half-time substitute in a KDM Evolution Trophy tie against Inverness, scoring 16 minutes after coming on in a game that the Jags would ultimately lose on penalties.
There were 13 further appearances for the centre-half before the end of the campaign and he managed another goal, his first in the league for Thistle, in a 1-1 draw with Ayr United at Somerset Park.
