Conor is an Irish striker who, on the 11th of August 2017, joined Thistle on-loan from Hearts for the 2017/18 season. He started his senior career with U.C.D. and also spent time with Derry City while playing in his home country. He left Derry City in 2008 to join Kilmarnock.
While with Killie he enjoyed an impressive first half of the 2010-11 season as he netted 18 goals in 27 games but then Wigan came calling in January of 2011 and he moved down south for an undisclosed fee. Following his spell with Wigan, he joined Derby County before going on loan to Ipswich, Rotherham and Sheffield United while on the Rams’ books. Conor joined Hearts at the beginning of last season before returning to Kilmarnock for a half-season loan spell at Rugby Park. All in all, he notched up six league goals last season including an equaliser for Kilmarnock against the Jags in Ayrshire. Conor also has international experience, making nine appearances for the Republic of Ireland national team since 2013.
Sammon netted his first Thistle goal during an incredible first half against Motherwell in Maryhill as his low effort made it 3-0 to Thistle. He would go on to score a second Jags goal in the side’s 2-0 win over Ross County.
The forward grabbed the McCrea FS Player of the Month award for December and began the new year in similar form. He netted twice in the William Hill Scottish Cup as Thistle beat Queen of the South in the competition’s fourth round and then went on to score a penalty against Celtic, making it four in three games for the number 18.
