Despite being born in Sierra Leone, Mustapha’s full playing career, to date, has been in England. He started his career with English non-league sides Wingate & Finchley, Maidenhead United and Potters Bar Town. It was his performances with Potters Bar Town which attracted the interest of Doncaster Rovers and Mustapha signed for the side in August 2009, making his debut against Sheffield United in October 2009.
He spent three seasons with the club, and enjoyed a short loan spell with Crystal Palace in January 2012, before moving to Portsmouth on a short term deal in August 2012. After a six month spell on the south coast he was on the move again, penning a deal with Crawley Town to the end of the 2012/13 season.
Mustapha has spent the last two seasons with Notts County making in excess of 50 appearances for the club.
His ability has also been recognised by Sierra Leone and he has been capped on 10 occasions for his country, caps which he have added to this season when he represented his country in World Cup 2018
