Steven Lawless returned for a second spell in Maryhill during the summer of 2022 having previously spent six seasons with the club between 2012 and 2018.
He made a dream start to his time in Thistle colours, first time round, scoring on his debut against Forfar in the League Cup before then finding the net in his first league appearance against Falkirk.
The former Motherwell youth player finished that maiden season with 14 goals from 41 appearances as the Jags won the First Division and achieved promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
He continued to play an important role for Alan Archibald’s team in the top flight netting 21 goals in the following five seasons before departing in 2018.
Since then, Lawless has spent time with Livingston, Burton Albion, Motherwell and most recently Dunfermline, scoring three times in 20 games for the Pars.
The wide player’s first season back in Maryhill was a fruitful one with the number 11 scoring eight goals and setting eight up across 49 games with his masterful touch and eye for a pass dazzling the Thistle fans on a weekly basis.
That carried on into the 23/24 term with show-stopping early season performances against Queen’s Park and Ayr United exemplifying his ability to decide a game by himself.
Steven had racked up five goals and 11 assists by the time he suffered an Achilles injury in April.
After seven months out, Lawless made his long-awaited return to the pitch on 16th November 2024 as he came off the bench in a 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies.
