On the 2nd of June, Partick Thistle made their first summer signing of 2018 in the form of Thomas O’Ware.
The Scottish defender joined the Jags on a two-year deal having left former club, Greenock Morton at the end of last campaign.
Thomas spent time with Kilmarnock and Rangers as a youth player but only made the step-up to senior football when he joined the aforementioned Greenock Morton, debuting during a 2011 Scottish Cup tie as the ‘Ton took on Deveronvale.
The centre-half became a regular at Cappielow during Morton’s League One title winning season as they bounced back from relegation at the first attempt, making over 40 appearances that year.
25-year old O’Ware is solid defensively but good for a goal too. He finished the 2016/17 season as Europe’s top scoring defender with 11 goals.
Furthermore, each of the last two seasons have seen Thomas selected in the Ladbrokes Championship PFA Scotland Team of the Season.
Tam bagged a goal on his first appearance in front of the Thistle fans as he netted the Jags’ only goal in a 3-1 open doors friendly defeat to Hearts in July 2018. He would go on to make his competitive debut at Ochilview as Thistle beat Stenhousemuir 2-0 in the Betfred Cup group stages.
Tam’s first competitive Thistle goal came in the Irn Bru Cup as the defender headed home Craig Slater’s corner against Stranraer at Stair Park.
Contract Expires: May 2020
