A product of the Thistle Weir Youth Academy, Zander Mackenzie signed with the club as a modern apprentice in May 2022.
The midfielder, who joined the academy at under 12s level, spent time in training with the Thistle first team during the 2021/22 season, latterly going out on loan to Petershill FC.
He made his first team debut on the opening day of the 22/23 term, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Stenhousemuir. He would go on to make 15 further appearances before the end of the campaign.
Zander signed a three-year contract extension with the club in July 2023.
To kick off the 23/24 term, he made his first start as a Thistle player, filling in for Jack McMillan at right-back away to Peterhead. He did so again in the following game away to Dundee United winning the Viaplay Sports Man of the Match award for his display in a 2-1 victory.
His 23/24 season ended having made 24 appearances in total including seven starts for Kris Doolan’s side.
Zander scored his first senior goal for Partick Thistle in a 3-0 win over Queen’s Park on 31st August 2024, a well-timed volley from the edge of the box.
Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from building on that immediately as he missed over four months of action before returning to the fray to make six appearances towards the end of the season.
