Partick Thistle would like to reiterate that during the transition to a cashless stadium at Firhill provision will continue to be made for supporters, without bank cards or online access, to use cash to purchase tickets to home games.
Whilst the bulk of supporters attending games this season will have bought season tickets and others can access ticketing online, we recognise that a very small number are dependent on cash. They will be assisted to purchase tickets as was done at the Morton game.
Saturday’s home match was the first as we begin the transition. There were some teething problems that arose – having been reviewed by the club, these issues have now been addressed.
Sadly, there were a small number of fans who were extremely abusive to staff trying to help them – the Club will not tolerate any abuse of our staff or volunteers and will refuse admittance to anyone who does that.
Although a big change, there are two important benefits to a cashless stadium, to the club and supporters. Most importantly, less potential Covid transmission by replacing the physical exchange of cash with contactless payment. Secondly, financial efficiency for the club, with savings in business costs of cash handling being reallocated to on-field budget.
As Firhill modernises its processes including with contactless payments, also being adopted at other grounds across the UK including Hampden Park, we are calling on all fans who can pay using contactless means to do so to help make the club’s matchday operations as efficient as possible.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you at Firhill soon!
