There is one fixture remaining in the 2015/16 before this term ultimately gets consigned to the history books.
Each player in the squad has played his part to ensure that Partick Thistle would remain a Premiership team for another season. There were a number of strong performances all over the pitch throughout the season and this was evident in the voting for the McCrea Financial Services Partick Thistle Player of the Year 2015/16. The list was whittled down to four exceptional candidates in – Stuart Bannigan, Callum Booth, Tomas Cerny and Abdul Osman.
After an intensive voting period the Thistle support have spoken and declared that the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Year 2015/16 is Tomas Cerny
Tomas joined Thistle during June 2015 and he performed to an extremely high standard right from the first whistle of the league campaign. His performances in August saw him win a Player of the Month award in his first month of competitive action as a Jag and he hasn’t looked back. He has kept 11 clean sheets this season for Thistle, a figure which would surely be higher were it not for two spells on the sidelines through injury.
In January, Tomas gave the Thistle support an early reason to be cheerful when he decided to extend his stay at Firhill for, at least, two more seasons.
Tomas won’t feature again for Thistle this season as he looks to get fit in time to start next campaign in the same strong form he has displayed consistently in this season.

It wasn’t just Tomas who won though as almost 500 people packed into the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sunday for the 2016 Partick Thistle Player of the Year Awards.
For the first time in the club’s history, every team which falls under the umbrella of Partick Thistle were recognised and rewarded at the same event.
After club chairman, David Beattie, made his opening remarks, there was the opportunity to have a bite to eat before the award presentations became the centre of attention.
Academy director, Gerry Britton, provided the audience with a bit of background information on each of the age groups, starting from the under 11s and moving all the way up to the development squad. The ladies team, which has made an excellent unbeaten start to their league campaign, were also recognised with a most valuable player award – there was no traditional player of the year award as the ladies’ season runs through the summer.
After former referee Willie Young entertained the crowd with stories of his exploits fro ithin the centre circle, it was time for the first team to receive their awards with the Arr Craib Goal of the Season being won by Steven Lawless before, as mentioned above, the McCrea Financial Services Partick Thistle Player of the Year, was picked up by Tomas Cerny.
It was an excellent afternoon and it was great to see so many of the young Thistle Weir Academy players being recognised at the same time as the first team. For one young player it was a particularly magical afternoon as not only did he scoop his age group’s Player of the Year, but he also won the star prize in the raffle – an iWatch!
