My Dad was a lifelong Jag, his passion for the club meant that there was only one club that I was ever going to follow! He took me to my first game at Firhill 3 days before my 1st birthday on Saturday 11th February 1969; I obviously do not remember the 2-1 win over Raith Rovers, but that was the day that the Thistle bug must’ve bitten me! We continued to go to Firhill together throughout the 70’s and we often reminisced about all of the games that we had seen; especially the 1975-76 season which saw us win the 1st Division title and gain promotion to the Premier League.
The night before he passed we watched together as Thistle beat Hamilton 6-1; an unbelievable Thistle performance for us to share; it felt like the the team were playing just for us.
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, DAD!
