Angela McPhie

All at Partick Thistle are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Angela McPhie.

Since the early 1990’s ‘wee’ Angela as she was affectionately known as had been a fixture around the club. Her dad, Billy, was the club security officer and Angela followed him everywhere. For years, Angela was a permanent fixture on the terraces before heading to the Aitken hospitality suite after games.

When Billy retired from his security officer duties, Angela continued to be looked after by players, staff and sponsors at games, befriending many and keeping in touch with staff and players throughout the years.

When her cousin, Paddy Boyle, signed for Thistle in 2009, Angela was always present to support her relative, and the entire team, on.

Angela’s visits to Firhill had been limited over the last few years due to COVID and watching Paddy play down at Dumbarton but she had recently returned to her normal position in the John Lambie Stand. Angela’s last match at Firhill was our 3-0 win against Ayr United in the play-offs.

Angela’s smiling face and happy demeanour will be missed by many current and past club staff.

Angela is pictured here with her two favourite players Kenny Arthur and Des McKeown.

The thoughts of everyone at the Club and of all Thistle supporters are with Angela’s family and friends at this desperately sad time.
