Community Champion with McDonalds Maryhill

Tomorrow afternoon’s Community Champion, with our partners at McDonald’s Maryhill, is a lady who has worked tirelessly in the PossilPark area for over 15 years.

Helen Graham, nominated by the Hawthorn Housing Co-operative, has been a member of the management committee at the Co-operative for 16 years and has been chair for 9 of these years.  As chair she has provided a massive amount of support for new committee members, helping them to take on their responsibilities.

During this time Helen has worked tirelessly for the Community of Hawthorn which she loves.  Hawthorn is a small area in Possilpark and Helen has led the Co-op to transform the area and provide a better quality of life for the community.

Helen has lived almost all of her life in this area; she works full-time in the community and is well known and respected by the entire community.  Not a day passes without Helen doing some work on behalf of the Co-operative – all with the aim of improving the area.

Helen has been prepared to make difficult decisions that will benefit the community in the long term and has a real belief in the co-op’s ethos of self-help, community and fairness.

Having worked hard for over a decade to improve the community of Hawthorn it is no surprise to see Helen nominated by the Hawthorn Housing Co-operative to be tomorrow’s Community Champion. Everyone at Partick Thistle, along with our friends at McDonald’s Maryhill, hopes that Helen has a great afternoon here at Firhill.
