Coulibaly excited to help the team

One person is looking forward to the match against Ayr United more than most. Souleymane Coulibaly is finally going to get his chance to play infront of the Thistle fans at The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill.

After a long wait, the striker finally made his debut last week at Alloa and despite the result not being what he wanted he was happy to have got the ball rolling on his Thistle carrear.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “I was very happy to make my debut but I could not enjoy it like I wanted because we lost the game. I wanted to be able to help the team win the game and I couldn’t do that but it was great to be out on the pitch playing again.

“I now want to give everything I can for this team, I want to help them up the table, to try and gain promotion, I want to be out on the pitch helping make that happen.”

Souleymane knows how excited the fans were to finally see him in Thistle colours and he wants to repay their patience, starting on Saturday.

“I know the fans have had to wait to see me play and I want to show them now what I can do. I want to give them things to cheer and be happy about and hopefully I can do that as soon as possible. I want to try and get the team where they want it to be.

“We know Saturday will be a hard match but we have to try and fight to get all three points, we have to give it our all to get out of the bad run and into a good run where we can move up the table.”

Coulibaly admits it’s been a week of hard work after the disappointment of the defeat last weekend but knows it will all be worth it.

“Everyone at the club has the same ambition, I have that ambition too, I work for that ambition every day. We are all going in the same direction and working together hard to realise that ambition.

“We were disappointed with the way things went last week. We have been working hard this week to improve and we will be looking to be better this week against Ayr.”

While he is keen to do well Souleymane knows he has a lot of work to do before he is completely match sharp, however he’ll give it his all anyway

“I am not 100% yet, I know that but I will give everything I can. I am working very hard every day and it is a step by step process. You keep building and improving and it will come but I can still give everything for the team and do everything I can to try and get us three points.”

With it being a home match the Thistle number 29 is looking to send the Jags support home happy at full time.

“We are at home and we have to put on a show for them, we disappointed them last time at home and we have to do better this time to entertain them and get the points. We started the season well at home and we have to get back to that.”
